منظمات المجتمع المدني تحث الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة على التصويت لصالح مؤسسة مستقلة بشأن المفقودين في سوريا

في نهاية شهر يونيو/حزيران، ستتم دعوة الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة للتصويت على قرار بإنشاء مؤسسة مستقلة لكشف مصير وأماكن وجود الأشخاص المفقودين في الجمهورية العربية السورية، وهو ما يشكل علامة فارقة في استجابة المجتمع الدولي للصراع السوري.

منذ عام 2011، فُقد أكثر من 100.000 شخص أو اختفوا قسرياً على يد السلطات السورية وأطراف أخرى مشاركة في النزاع، بما في ذلك جماعات مسلحة مثل داعش. في عام 2021، دعت مجموعة من العائلات والناجون السوريون إلى إنشاء مؤسسة إنسانية جديدة ومستقلة تركز على حق الضحايا، الغير قابل للتصرف، في معرفة الحقيقة عن مصير أحبائهم.

إن الدعوة لإنشاء مثل هذه المؤسسة الجديدة مدعومة من قبل الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، والمفوض السامي للأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان، والفريق العامل المعني بحالات الاختفاء القسري أو غير طوعي، واللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر.

ستشكل المؤسسة المستقلة أول استجابة على الإطلاق للصراع السوري تم تصورها والعمل عليها بالكامل من قبل الضحايا السوريين والناجين من الاختفاء القسري وعائلات الأشخاص المفقودين. الجهود التي تبذلها العائلات السورية بحاجة إلى أوسع وأقوى دعم ممكن.

لذلك ندعو الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة إلى دعم حق العائلات في معرفة الحقيقة من خلال التصويت لصالح القرار. سيشكل التصويت لصالح القرار خطوة رئيسية نحو تقديم إجابات طال انتظارها لآلاف العائلات التي عانت من الفقد وعدم اليقين.

المضي قدماً في هذه القضية أساسي للأسر والمجتمع ككل. يجب على المجتمع الدولي أن يمد يد الدعم والمساعدة للأسر والضحايا المحتاجين. الشعب السوري لا يستحق أقل من ذلك.
